My name is Pamela Cosner, and I have helped thousands of dogs and their families achieve happier relationships.  My dog training journey began when I was 13.  My family added added Shadow, an adorable black lab puppy, to our home. I was so excited to work with our new puppy!   My parents dropped us off at the local YMCA every Friday for training classes. I loved the process of training and we finished at the top of our class under an AKC judge.  After completing Shadow's training I began training stray dogs and finding homes for them.  I graduated from Virginia Tech in 1990 and our family relocated to California  I became a dog trainer at Hollywood Dog Training School, where the original dogs who played Lassie were trained. During my 7 years at HDTS, I worked with dogs of all breeds, sizes and temperaments.  The owner of the school entrusted me with dogs with a wide variety of behavioral challenges including dogs who had suffered severe abuse.  In 1999, I created Sundog Obedience and have been working privately with dogs and their families ever since. I work with many dogs but have a special affinity for young puppies and shy, fearful, abused, and/or rescued dogs.

 

ESTABLISHING PARTNERSHIPS

     My decades of experience allow me to customize the training for each dog and their family.  The training equation involves more than a dog learning a behavior: it is a team effort between dog and family. If the family isn’t trained as well, then half of the team isn’t there. With my guidance, families learn to read their dog’s cues, to communicate effectively with their dog, and to establish an enduring partnership.
